The Royal Kerckhaert Horseshoe Company developed the Patented Smart Finnish for the complete range of dropped forged aluminium shoes and race plates. The sole relief is very important for the comfort of the horse. As the hoof becomes weight bearing the sole flexes and descends, mostly at the toe, so the sole relief is very important and extending the sole relief at the toe allows the natural expansion of the hoof. The Smart Finnish on the foot surface was developed to give the shoe more security against the hoof while the heels are left smooth to avoid the restricting the natural expansion of the hoof.
